Contino Graciano

Contino Graciano is made from grapes harvested by hand and stored in crates in our plot San Gregorio Grande, 3.7 Ha, planted in 1979 and 1989 (two areas) in which we make a first selection in the field in order to guarantee an optimum maturation.

Alcoholic fermentation took place in 100 hectoliters french oak vats at controlled temperature. After a maceration post-fermentative. 22th September, malolactic fermentation took place in new french oak barrels. During the ageing process, it remained in new barrels, french (72%) and american (28%) oak. After 16 months,29th January it is racked in to concret tanks in order to reduce the time in barrel.

“Viñedos del Contino was born in 1973, establishing the “château” concept in the Rioja region. Its wines are made exclusively from the vines planted on its 62 hectares. The estate’s vineyards embrace its ancestral home within a meander in the River Ebro, located in Laserna, near the village of Laguardia in the Rioja Alavesa region”
DISCOVER MORE Contino Viña del Olivo “Viña del Olivo aims to be the maximum expression of Contino's terroir as it is one of the few limestone clay estates in Contino (the rest is almost all alluvial) with a very high content of active limestone, a slope of 5 to 7% with southern exposure, unirrigated and without the use of herbicides and organic fertilisation. Mineral and ageing wine, expressing its modernity with harmony and balance”
